Bethesda
Located just north of Washington DC on the border of Virginia and south of Wheaton-Glenmont is the city known as Bethesda. Home to about 63,000 residents, this vibrant community offers style, sophistication and convenience for those in Montgomery County Maryland.
One of the most affluent communities in the county, Bethesda is considered one of Forbe's Magazines most educated cities in America. Although it is technically an unincorporated city, the area also boasts the title of one of "America's Most Livable Cities". With dozens of schools, hospitals and industrial facilities, the need to go very far is minimal to say the least. Several prominent landmarks and businesses make Bethesda its home including the National Institutes of Health and the National Naval Medical Center also known as the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
Bethesda offers business, commercial and domestic, homes, condos, and townhouses for those living and working right in town. The Federal Realty Investment Trust has developed much of the west side of downtown, called Bethesda Row. This eclectic district offers many shops, boutiques and dining options.
Residents of Bethesda enjoy many of the outdoor events and activities throughout the year including the Capitol Crescent Trail which follows the old railroad tracks of the famous B&O rail line. This trail stretches from Georgetown, DC to Silver Spring, MD. During the summer folks enjoy outdoor movies at the Bethesda's Woodmont Triangle as well as dozens of summer concert series and the Taste of Bethesda. During the winter months, residents and visitor alike share the joy at the Winter Wonderland event with live ice sculpting, visits from Santa Claus and local singers and performers.
Bethesda is known for its Art Scene and most of the year you will find local Art Walks, Fine Arts Festivals, Play in a Day Performances and Dance Festivals. From award-winning theatre to independent films, Bethesda's Arts & Entertainment District is filled with inspiring artists and arts venues.
