Penn Quarter is a neighborhood in the East end of downtown Washington D.C. that is as eclectic and entertaining as the day is long. Besides the eateries, bars and cultural experiences available, Penn Quarter is also home to a very popular Farmer's Market as well as several festivals focusing on anything from food and wine to art and culture. Some of the very best features of Penn Quarter, however, are The Source Restaurant by Wolfgang Puck located in the Newseum on 6th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW, and the Verizon Center.
Penn Quarter is comprised of about 1,127 households. The median condo values of these households is around $438,400 and the median home value of a typical two bedroom residence is $620,400. The buildings and facades here are nineteenth century. If you walk down 7th Street, look up and you'll see many residences sitting a top restaurants, coffee shops and more. Penn Quarter doesn't have a traditional neighborhood feel but it's where true city folk love to live and play.
Life in Penn Quarter is fast paced and this urban area truly never sleeps with much activity happening 24 hours a day. Here, interesting people and places are never lacking and being close to China Town, neither is excellent Asian food. Leisurely walking the streets is not an option as many suits are hustling through the streets with a destination determination mind set. Penn Quarter is pedestrian and public transportation friendly while vehicle owners have it kind of tough. This neighborhood is served by four stations by Metro bus and D.C. Circulator bus.
